I’m not quite sure how we are at that point in l

I’m not quite sure how we are at that point in life when we take our daughter to the college we both attended so we can seriously discuss the possibility of her living there someday soon.

But we are officially there.

It’s the last school pick-up line I will sit in

It’s the last school pick-up line I will sit in this year.

Days like this hold a lot of emotion that seem opposing, but actually fit together nicely on days like today.

Gratitude for another year of school come and gone and all that year held. For the people who have loved and taught my children well. For the friendships they made and the lessons learned. To be able to be a witness to, and a part of, it all.

Grief for another chapter coming to a close. For how fast time seems to move and for those moments we try to grasp hold of, but still slip through our fingers.

There is joy for the start of summer and a quiet hum of something that may be close to sadness for the passing of another year.

The beautiful thing is there is space for all of the emotion. We don’t have to choose. They can exist together.

Today, I both celebrate, and grieve, the passing of another year.

Today, I look forward to what lies ahead and thank God for what has passed.

Today, we step into summer.
With space in our heart for all that it holds. 💗

To the first to hold me. To comfort me. To kiss the top of my head and say, “I love you.” To wake up with me in the hours of the night when all the world seems asleep.

Who has been with me from those moments and all the in between to now.

There are a few things in life I am certain of.

There are a few things in life I am certain of.

I am certain there is a God above and that He loves us infinitely more than we can comprehend with our limited human understanding.

I am certain there is nothing we can do that is beyond His forgiveness.

I am certain that even that thing you feel like nobody can know about that you work so hard to hide is also forgiven. Even that.

I am certain even though people can be mean sometimes, if we stop and pay attention we will see there is actually much more goodness and kindness to be found in the world than the nastiness that we sometimes focus on.

I am certain unconditional love is the greatest gift we have to give. And the greatest to receive.

And I am certain in whatever we face in life, we can always return to our Heavenly Father and He will be waiting for us with open arms. Always.

You don’t have to be it all. Do it all. Know it

You don’t have to be it all. Do it all. Know it all.

You don’t have to get it right all the time.
You don’t have to always say the right things.
You don’t have to have all the answers.

You can mess up.
You can say I don’t know.

And I’m sorry can go a very long way.

I think the sooner we can come to terms with who we are and what we can actually offer, the better. The sooner we can admit we can’t take it all on - nor were we meant to, the better. The sooner we can own up to our mistakes, the better.

I am a recovering perfectionist and people pleaser and I have had to learn a lot of these lessons the hard way. I’m not speaking from a place of expertise, but I am speaking from experience. I’m learning to let go. To admit my mistakes. And to stop trying to be all the things all the time - because it’s just not possible.

Friends, if you struggle with any of this, know you’re not alone. I’m right there with you. But I’m learning. And I’m trying.

I’m rooting for you, friend. I’m praying for you.
We’ve got this!

Let's learn to let go.
To accept who we are, with all of our limitations.
To not have to be it all. Or do it all. Or know it all.

To be show up as our imperfect selves.
And to know that’s enough.
